From 2nd December we are in Tier 2 but WE CAN MEET FOR WORSHIP

Church services in December

From Wednesday 2nd December communal worship can resume. West Berkshire is in 'High Alert' tier level 2; this mean PLACES OF WORSHIP are Open, but you “cannot interact with anyone outside household or support bubble” when you’re in the building.

Church buildings continue to be OPEN for Private Prayer (details below); the Community Post Office in St Stephen’s church centre will continue to open on Monday and Friday mornings.

For details of church services please see our events page or look at the page for each church.

More information from West Berkshire Council (or click here)
The "High Alert" tier prohibits the mixing of households indoors, apart from support bubbles, but does allow up to 6 people from different households to meet outdoors.

In addition, under the High Alert tier:

  • Shops, gyms and personal care services (such as hairdressers) will all reopen.

  • Pubs and bars can stay open ONLY if they are operating as restaurants. Hospitality venues can only serve alcohol with substantial meals. Last orders will be taken at 10pm, and venues must close by 11pm.

  • People should minimise travel and work from home where possible. Please note that you should not travel into a Tier 3 “Very high” area unless where necessary such as for work or education.

  • Schools, colleges, university and early years settings will be open.

MOST IMORTANTLY LET’S SUPPORT ONE ANOTHER, BY CALLING ON THE PHONE SOMEONE YOU THINK MIGHT NEED A CHAT , AND BY PRAYER:

God of all things and all people, give us grace

to throw off that which diminishes and

put on the clothes of eternal peace instead.

May we begin this, now,

in the time of our earthly lives.

We would like to be like Jesus, the Christ,

who came and lived with us, plainly and simply.

When, at the last, Christ makes a glorious return, with mercy and love,

may we come alive, in God, in the new creation.

Amen.
