We are committed to supporting the work of organisations working to demonstrate practically Christ’s love for all people of the world.
GB Trust - Kabubbu
According to the internet, this is the season when we begin searching and booking our summer holiday, and new dreams begin.
We are inviting you to join us at an information evening about a holiday beyond your imagination. Some teenagers who have travelled to enjoy this experience go with all their beauty apparel, but by the second day they have abandoned their stuff, because they are experiencing a new joy from holping others through volunteering. Eight days later when they reluctantly leave the village to return home, they are often in floods of tears.
Older guests familiar with travelling the world and staying in nice accommodation, often wish they could find ways to connect with the locals living nearby and understand what makes them ‘tick’.
You are invited to a village hall located in the Upper Basildon- Goring on Thames- Pangbourne triangle on Friday 17th January at 7pm (the venue will be determined by the number attending).
With the aid of a power point presentation, you will be informed about Kabubbu in Uganda and you will meet a couple who have travelled there regularly for 25 years.
During this time, they have seen the village develop from a primary school, through secondary education and on to vocational training. An administration centre, employing accountants, secretaries etc. A small conference centre and a library. The health centre built in 2003, has now expanded to include an AIDS centre, a theatre, and a full maternal health programme, A welfare programme includes support for children without parental care. and an ‘adopt a grandparent’ programme and a lovely church with friendly people, music and dancing. Of course in the middle of all this is the resort centre with round bandas, flushed loos, warm showers and a small restaurant.
You will receive information on costs, travel dates in August 2025, travel directions, what to wear, what we will eat, health issues, an extensive programme of activities you can participate in, including taking a school assembly, crafts, decorating, teaching, visiting families at home, listening to a presentation with a Head of Department and/or or even knitting can be included (now there’s 140 staff in the village) and most people speak English.
