Tiddlers is growing and needs a little help

Tiddlers is growing and needs a little help

Tiddlers is our weekly toddler group which meets in St. Stephen’s Church during term time. We’ve gone from strength to strength and are looking for a few practical volunteers to help with making refreshments for parents and carers and helping us with the washing up afterwards! If it’s something you might be able to help with please do get in touch with Revd Grant or Revd Jen.

Bell ringers wanted in Aldworth

Bell ringers wanted in Aldworth

Have you ever thought about ringing the bells in your local church? The St Mary’s Aldworth bell ringing team is looking for new recruits who would like to give it a try. It’s something that anyone can do and no previous experience is necessary. Why not come along and see if you enjoy it?

There has been another devastating fire this weekend in Aldworth Road, Upper Basildon - only a week since the previous fire. The houses of both families are completely destroyed together with all their possessions. Grant, Jen and I have decided to set up a Benefice fund-raising page to help them start to rebuild their lives. The money we raise will be shared between the two families. Please do contribute and encourage others to do so too - we need to give them the best shot at being supported by our community. The fires have been an absolute tragedy for both families and we can't think of anything more traumatic than losing your home like this. The link is: https://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/fire-response-fund-1. The fund is already open and the first contribution made. Thank you so much. Our blessings, Grant, Katy and Jen

Weekly Newsletter 10th March

Dear Friends,

I hope this update find you and those you love well.

Many folks have been asking what we can do to help with the sad crisis in Ukraine. There are plenty of things we can do, although many of them still don’t feel like ‘enough’. I have pledged our support to the Sanctuary Foundation which means that we can offer to host and support families who may end up needing somewhere to live, if the boarder issues are sorted. We can also give donations both financially and material items. There are plenty of places to do this. We can also sign the petition calling the government to provide increased humanitarian support to the people of Ukraine. You can find it here if you are interested. Finally, we can pray.

Some prayer resources from the Church of England can be found here. Some prayer resources from Bishop Steven can be found here.

We prayed for the people of Ukraine on the first of our Lent walks this week and at the services last Sunday. We shall continue to do this at all of our events and services over the coming weeks. Why not join us this week as we seek peace and cry out ‘Lord, have mercy’.

Love

Grant
