Alison and Charlie invite you to join them for a Basildon Breakfast Bookfeast
A great chance to give your surplus books (in good condition) to a new home, and an amazing opportunity to refresh your reading pile; a book exchange and not a sale.
They are hosting this breakfast to raise money for a small Oxford-based charity: Bookfeast.
Even if you are not intending to be tempted to take some new books, you are still welcome to come and support us by having coffee and croissants! You can contribute to Bookfeast by just donating any amount you choose, gift-aided if possible.
If you do have any books to donate please drop them off beforehand. Any leftover books will be donated to Oxfam.
Just let us know if you are coming, so that we have enough breakfast for you!

The charity has organised a variety of projects to develop and sustain reading and the enjoyment of books. These have included Lunchboox - book groups for children in Oxfordshire primary schools (since 2009), and TeaBooks - for the elderly in day centres, residential homes, sheltered housing and libraries (since 2010). Both sorts of group are led by volunteers. In September the Lunchbox clubs became part of The Story Museum’s programme, which will give them a better all-round future and simplify contact with schools. TeaBooks currently comprises 21 sociable book groups for older readers all over Oxfordshire. Oxfordshire Libraries supply books, including vital large print and audio versions. In October a pilot began for a new project: an ‘intergenerational’ book group, bringing together nursery-age children and older people in day or residential centres. These groups share books, songs, talking and making things together - do find out more on https://bookfeast.net/projects/teabooks and http://new.bookfeast.net/wp-content/uploads/2018/11/TeaBooks-Evaluation-2017-18-FINAL.pdf
