The charity, Alexander Devine Children's Hospice Service, was founded in 2007 by the Devine family in memory of their son Alexander who died at the age of eight from a brain tumour that was first diagnosed when he was just four. A local, caring service was desperately needed to support Berkshire families whose children had life threatening illnesses.
The first Alexander's nurses were funded in 2009 and a Community Service in 2012. A capital appeal was launched in 2013 and by 2015 £6 million pounds had been raised to begin building a state of the art Children's Hospice near Maidenhead. This was opened in 2018 and its facilities and services increase every year thanks to wonderful support from people like the Aldworth folk who support Jane Fairchild's stall at ASM.
